8. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND CUSTOMER DATA
Veteran Command may use software and technology incorporating artificial intelligence or automated processing to assist with business operations, design workflows, customer support, content organization, analytics, product development, or other legitimate business functions.
We do not intentionally use private Personalization Content submitted for an individual DTS Map to train a generalized public artificial-intelligence model for unrelated purposes without appropriate authorization or notice.
If third-party technology providers process customer information on our behalf, we seek to limit their use of that information to providing the relevant service or otherwise as permitted by applicable agreements and law.
Customers should not submit classified, controlled, legally restricted, or highly sensitive government information into any Veteran Command digital system or AI-assisted workflow.

Personalized files may contain information that is meaningful or sensitive to the customer even when that information is not legally classified as sensitive personal data.

- provide customer support
- maintain business records
- resolve disputes
- detect fraud
- protect intellectual property

We may separately request permission to feature:
- customer photographs
- testimonials
- personalized DTS Maps
- retirement gifts
- corporate editions
- customer stories
- social-media content
When permission is requested, the scope of that permission may be described separately.
